Prior to 1950, most steel structures were riveted together.   A half century before that steel was too costly for most buildings.  Wrought or cast iron was the less expensive readily available trusted material.  In those days, framed buildings and rail bridges often used columns built up from wrought iron flat bar in a lattice X pattern. We designed this lattice coffee table around the idea of those old structures.
